I thought when Capt. D. Berlingham sailed for H.K. that I had got rid of this troublesome visitor! This fiancée wants us to assist in obtaining a passage to Hong Kong in the first week of January, and also to be allowed assisted passage which is at present refused to officials' wives and families. I asked her to write. When her letter comes I authorise you to send on the letter together with this one. We (as far as assisted passage is concerned) should refer her request to Hong Kong.
